A magical mix of old and new
Come and teach in the bustling metropolis of Lima, one of South America’s biggest and brightest cities. Home to both the Museo Larco collection of pre-columbian art and brand new cafes with ocean views, you’ll feel a magical mix of old and new. Take a walk down the small side streets in the trendy neighbourhood of Barranco with it’s local poets and artists. Enjoy the best bars and neighbourhoods in town, or try eating from the food carts serving choclo con queso, corn on the cob with a little cheese. However you want to spend your weekends, Lima is the ideal base to explore all that Peru has to offer and discover Peru’s ancient civilisations, right in the heart of the city.
Under the boardwalk
Whether you’re a paraglider, surfer or simply like sunbathing with a book, Miraflores beach will not disappoint. Or get out of the city and trek through Malecon, a collection of parks spanning four districts. Malecon translates as ‘‘boardwalk’’, and it’s hard to avoid Lima’s seaside sidewalks, from Callao to Barranco. Wherever your Peruvian adventure takes you, you’ll definitely have to sip a famous pisco sour cocktail along the way!
